It's amazing to think that it was just 2 years ago when Matt and I professed our eternal love and commitment to each other in front of all of our friends and family. And of course, who can forget hurricane Hanna, as she rolled through Annapolis wreaking havoc on our wedding day - the pouring rain, the bridge traffic, and who can forget the gale force winds that nearly knocked down our reception tent but managed to only rip one corner!
Matt and I usually celebrate special occassions like this with a trip somewhere, but with Piper Jayne being here now, my return to work the next day and our sheer indecision on where to go and what to do, we decided to stick around home for the weekend. We did, however, at the very least, head out for a nice dinner on the water in Annapolis. We enjoyed delicious food and beautiful views as Grandma and Grandpa watched over our little munchkin. And we each got our "cotton" gift (the traditional 2nd anniversary gift), courtesy of my imaginative husband - my awesome gift (a new zoom lens and tons of accessories for my camera) was cushioned in a gift bag full of cotton balls. I then promptly took out all my gifts from the bag and reused it and the cotton balls for his gift - a bottle of Opus One wine and a bunch of meat (his request) - summer sausage, beef sausage, smoked sausage, pepperoni, you name it. I never knew a man would be so happy receiving a gift full of meat! Happy 2nd Anniversary to us!
The last two years have brought us amazing change, but along with it, amazing joy. Over the last 2 years we've been through major surgeries, months spent apart, a parents terminal illness, cross country moves, job losses, new jobs, a new house and of course, the birth of our first child. Through it all, the one constant was us - our strength as a couple, our love for each other and our ability to roll with the punches. We've been through the ups and downs and have come out the other end not just alive - but alive and thriving, stronger as individuals and as a couple. I can't imagine having it any other way!
Happy Anniversary!
