39 Weeks and a Fingertip

A fingertip is progress, right? According to the doctor this morning, I am officially a fingertip dilated. I do suspect though, that she was even stretching that a bit, especially considering she brought up the topic of when I would be induced without my even asking. That, to me, sounds like she has little faith that I'll go into labor this week or even next week!

In a nutshell, I'll likely be induced on July 5th if I don't go into labor naturally before then. They usually wait until a week past due dates, which is July 4th, and they wouldn't do it the Friday before a holiday weekend. So, that puts me at July 5th. So much for my 4th of July plans to have a couple of beers!! Sprout is well worth it though. And I will say that if she decides to start coming out on the 4th, I'm keepin' my legs crossed as tight as I can - I will not have this baby on July 4th (for numerous reasons we won't get into here!).

Sprout's been doing pretty good these days - I no longer feel crazy kicks, but definitely get a lot of movement, and Matt and I love to watch the bulge move around on my stomach. It's so fun laying on the couch or in bed and just watching my stomach make waves. Matt even took a few pictures of my belly last night with a crazy bump sticking out, but it didn't come out in the pictures. Oh well!

The doctor this week said Sprout was still around the 7 lb mark - I didn't clarify if that was within 7-8 lbs or right around 7lbs - either way, I'm happy she's not 8+ lbs! My heartburn has pretty much gone away, as has the sore muscles in my ho haa - I'm feeling pretty normal (and I've stopped waddling!) except for the swelling that has steadily gotten worse. I woke up this morning with a totally swollen face, lips, feet, legs - you name it. My blood pressure was slightly higher than normal, but I usually have such perfect BP, they weren't concerned at the doctor's office. I'm sure the hot and humid weather has had an effect on my swelling!

That's pretty much it for my 39th week report - all is well and it's time to start doing all those things they say to do to induce labor. We've already done the boat ride - now it's time for spicy food, accupressure, raspberry tea, lots of walking and if all else fails, I might have to put out tonight. :)
