Matt and I found out that Keith Urban was playing at the local concert venue while we were in town, so we decided to have an impromptu night out and see if we could score some tickets. And SCORE we did!
One of Matt's childhood friends and a groomsman in our wedding, Greg, decided to tag along with us so the three of us headed out with a cooler full of beer and low expectations for actually being able to get into the concert. We pulled up to a half empty parking lot with barely a person in sight - and couldn't understand why people weren't tailgating. So, after we sat in our car for a couple drinks, we meandered our way in, bought the cheapest tickets we could get and headed to our seats. Immediately I noticed that the security staff weren't checking tickets anywhere, so I told the boys to follow me, act like they knew what they were doing and worked my magic. Before we knew it, we were literally in the front row!
By the time Keith Urban came on stage, we'd made friends with the beer guy and had already gotten in trouble a few times for resting our beer bottles on the stage. Halfway through the concert I noticed Jake Owen off to the side and ended up hooking him up with a couple of beers that I certainly didn't need by that point. It was so awesome being SO close to such an awesome country star, and I'll admit, I did my fair share of touching his feet and legs when he was in front of us, and MIGHT have even grabbed his rear when he and his entorage of security staff walked right past us to get to a stage built in the middle of the arena. It was the highlight of my night!
We've now decided that we're going to plan our summer trips out to Fort Wayne around the concert schedule in the hopes that we can score such great "seats" again!
