6 months old!

So, I'm a little late on this post but better late than never! I've been a little busy with the holidays and work...
The day after New Years day Piper turned 6 months old! It still amazes me that we have a 6 month old. I can still remember life before July 2nd, 2010, but can't quite seem to figure out what I did with myself and how I lived for so long without the amazing love and adoration I have for Piper! Matt and I are so blessed in so many ways, and Piper continues to bring unending joy to our lives.

It has been so much fun seeing her learn new things, and so much more quickly these days! And she's been advancing so much, there's so much to tell! She began sitting up on her own in mid-December, and it started out for just a few minutes at a time - but now she will happily sit up and play for longer stretches. She will eventually get bored and fuss or fall back to lay down, but then will do her little crunches to try to sit back up. She's not quite there yet (getting to a sitting position on her own) but she certainly tries! She loves her feet for both playing with and sucking, and enjoys kicking them around when she's excited. She's been rolling over from back to front for some time, but in the last month has learned to get from front to back. She loves rolling back and forth, reaching for toys and then she gets to her belly she'll move her arms and kick her legs - it won't be long before she's on her hands and knees and crawling! Matt likes to do "squats" or "pull ups" with her - she'll be sitting in front of him holding on to his hands and she'll pull herself into a standing position. The girl has been a strong stander from day one and we'll be lucky if she doesn't skip crawling and go straight to walking!
She's finally holding her bottles by herself, which helps me out at night when she wakes up - I can just hand her the bottle and go back to bed instead of having to hold her and the bottle! I do sometimes still hold and rock her - I don't know if I'll ever give that up completely! She is quite the little wiggle worm when she sleeps though - it cracks us up to see how she wiggles herself around the crib throughout the night!

Her bottom front two teeth came in right after one another in the first week of the year! We had a couple of fussy days, but other than that, she has been such a fun, good natured baby. We started trying solid foods in late December, but Piper wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. She was happy with her bottles of milk. We've continued trying and one night about 3 weeks ago, she out of the blue just started to eat a baby "Mum Mum" - these rice crackers made for babies. She now LOVES them and will devour one in a matter of minutes. She quickly moved on to sucking on anything that was somewhat solid (soft pretzels, pizza crust, boiled carrots)- but still wanted nothing to do with the baby food, much to my disappointment! (I've been excited about making her baby food for her using my Baby Beaba!) We've now tried pears, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and of course, rice cereal - and she doesn't want any of it. Up until 2 days ago, she was still refusing anything other than the Mum Mum's and solids, and then I introduced her to avocado which she is actually eating! My girl must be a California girl at heart!! Thatta girl!

Her 6 month doctor's appointment stats were great - she's 15lbs 11 oz, which is 50% tile and she's 27 inches long which is about 80-85%tile. Still long and lean - and still our little pipsqueak! She's still in size 2 diapers, which is fine by me because between the diapers our friends gave us that their son grew out of already (and he's a month younger than Piper), the diapers I received in a diaper cake at my shower and the diapers I stocked up months ago on sale (and with coupons!) - I still have 2 large cases of size 2's to get through! She's moving up to 6-9 month clothes...and I still have to hold back from buying her things because she was so spoiled at Christmas, she's STILL got more clothes than she needs!!

I now understand what my friends have told me in the past - each stage of your child's growth is your favorite, until you get to the next one. We are in no rush for our little angel to get to the next stage, we are having so much fun with her right now!!
