All better!

Last weekend was awful at the Welch household. There's just no other way to put it.

It all started with our nanny's son who was sent home early on Wednesday because he'd thrown up a few times. We crossed our fingers it was nothing that we could "catch" in the couple of hours he was at our house, and breezed through Thursday without any telltale signs of illness. That all ended Thursday night. Over the next 5 nights we all went down like dominoes, one after the other, with Piper Jayne leading the way.

It was heart wrenching to watch as our little pumpkin continued to throw up but not knowing exactly what was going on, she would cry and heave and....well, you don't need the gory details but let's just say it wasn't pretty and we didn't get much sleep between the multiple loads of laundry, baths for Piper Jayne and showers for myself. Since I spent most of the time snuggled with her in the rocking chair (overnight and during the day) I got hit with the majority of the vomit despite my best attempts to dodge it. Which I'm sure didn't help to prevent me from getting what we eventually learned is called the "Norovirus", which unfortunately happened on Sunday morning. Piper Jayne was still sick by that point and between the two of us throwing up and feeling like death all day, poor Matt got stuck taking care of us, and the laundry/bath duty was passed to him. At this point it was coming out of both ends of Piper so between the vomiting and the diaper blowouts - our washer and dryer were working overtime!

Luckily, it only lasted a day for me but poor Matt woke up on Monday with the same symptoms. Thank God for small favors - at least all three of us weren't sick at the same time! I am fearful to see my water bill this month after, no kidding, 25-30 loads of laundry and 15+ baths/showers in a 4 day period. Two empty cans of Lysol and an empty container of Clorox wipes later - our house is (hopefully) Norovirus free and life can get back to normal.
